What is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal medication is the use of plant remedies in the treatment of imbalance and ill health. Western Herbal Medicine is a holistic medical practice that seeks to restore the body’s self healing mechanism or “vital force”.
Although herbalism is referred to as an “alternative” or “complementary” discipline, it is still the most widely practised form of medicine worldwide with over 60% of the world’s population relying on herbs for treatment. Remedies prescribed are tailored to the individual, not to the symptoms. Herbalists investigate the root and cause of the illness or disease and by tackling the cause, the treatment is geared to re-establish homeostasis – the body’s natural balance.
“It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has”

Herbalists have access to hundreds of herbs, however, sadly due to EU legislation, access to over the counter herbs have reduced, however herbalists have retained the right to prescribe the herbs after a consultation.
