Being a herbalist isn’t what I do. It is who I am.
I was drawn to herbal medicine at a young age. I knew I wanted to explore alternative therapies and medical practices and had always felt I had an innate response to nature and the workings of plants and the powerful elements contained therein.
I'm Kate Parker and I have been practising herbal medicine for over 15 years. I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Phytotherapy (which literally means plant therapy), from the College of Phytotherapy (this translates from the Greek word phytón meaning plant and therapeia meaning healing, so plant healing), accredited through the University of Wales. I am also a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (www.nimh.org.uk).
I practise around raising a young family and welcome patients into a homely environment for their consultation. I have experience of treating a broad range of illnesses, with a particular understanding of the frustration of managing long-term conditions and chronic.
My approach
As a practitioner, I offer personal consultations, either via Zoom or face to face, which enable me to tailor every prescription to the individual.
I take the time to get to know my patients. The beauty of tailored herbal prescriptions is that they can be adapted to meet you and your body’s needs. The first follow up is always two weeks later as the first prescription can sometimes be simply symptom relief before we look to the underlying causes or a blend to start the process off. The herbal blend may or may not change as time goes on to reflect changes or needs as they become apparent.
I don’t just treat physical, ‘obvious’ symptoms but have the time to understand the emotional and psychological elements that may also be affecting you. I am interested to learn about my patients. Everyone has a history and every piece of it affects who you are. I aim to bring all of these pieces together to try to help you effectively.
